WORLD YOUTH HOCKEY PROMOTER FESTIVAL 2008 Victoria, Canada
Day 5 - Thursday May 1 - Europe day
The session started with an introduction to Europe Day . All the participants from Europe put together a power point presentation about their countries (Hungary, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Croatia, Germany, Netherlands and Poland). We were even lucky enough to witness Carl and Amy doing an Irish Dance.
Our first session was an Event Management workshop with Tina who has had a lot of experience in organising events. We each had a different event to try and organise and ours (Group 4) was to plan for a circus coming to town - whereby our main concern was lions escaping!
After a short break of sweets and biscuits from the various European countries we had a visit from Arjen Meijer, FIH Communications Manager, to explain the Challenges facing the Media world in Hockey. This was followed up with a back stage tour of the media centre for the World Hockey Olympic Qualifier. We then went to watch the Ireland vs. Korea game which ended with a 5-1 win to Korea despite Ireland's first quick goal.

At the end of the match we gained a special invitation to watch the subsequent press conference with the coaches of both teams. It was very interesting.

The day finished with a closing task from Tina before watching Canada vs. Uruguay.
