WORLD YOUTH HOCKEY PROMOTER FESTIVAL 2008
Victoria, Canada

Day 4 - Wednesday April 30

America’s Day was the theme for the days activities. Not only did we get a glimpse of the culture throughout the Americas from Canada down to Paraguay, we were also able to sample some of the sweets and delicacies from their homelands.

In addition to being America’s Day, it was also Queens Day in the Netherlands  so the 2 Dutch participants gave us a quick explanation about the day and all the partying that goes on.

What a multicultural start to the day it was!

Before heading off for our trip to Naniamo (as today was a day off  from workshops and presentations) we all posed for many group photos so that we can remember the great time that we had here in Victoria.

We all jumped on a real American style yellow school bus  (like we see in the movies) for our trip. Along the way to the adventure park we stopped to visit a nature park with really big old trees and stopped off at some lovely view points to admire the view of the islands. Once we were at the adventure park we were all surprised at the challenges that we would have to face. It was a ropes course with high wires, flying foxes tarzan swings. There were four different heights that we would go through (5m, 10, 15m & 20m off the ground).  After a short introduction and a warm up, the fun began. We climbed, zip lined, swung, hung crawled in order to get to the end of each course.

Becca Owen (England) & Nina Niedermyer ( Germany)

Everybody survived and enjoyed the day. On the way back in the bus we all sang songs and chatted away. The day ended with Kelly from the USA teaching us to line dance as the conclusion to Americas Day!
